EMERGENCY SHELTER

Our confidential shelter is staffed 24-hours a day, and provides for all basic needs, including food, clothing, personal care items, bus tickets and emergency needs. In addition, as with all New Beginnings programs, shelter residents receive agency core services.

In 2003, our shelter staff was able to provide over 7,000 bednights to more than 300 women and children, as well as more than 1,500 hours of support group services.

Shelter services include:

• Emergency food, clothing and shelter for up to 28 days
• Individual advocacy
• Weekly in-house support groups on a variety of subjects
• Groups for youth aged 7 and up
• Weekly medical screenings
• Outside referrals for counseling, housing, day care, and local community resources
• Legal advocacy
• Assistance with school enrollment
