Dear New Beginnings supporters and caring community members,
My first week as New Beginnings Executive Director has only strengthened my conviction that I have joined a circle of extraordinarily skilled and passionate staff, volunteers and supporters who share a deep commitment to end domestic violence. The evidence is everywherefrom the life saving counsel and advocacy offered to women and children, to the homey atmosphere in the shelter and transitional housing, to vibrant community education programs, to busy preparations for our upcoming
The problems that women face in ending their abuse can seem insurmountable, compounded by all the ills of our society. Yet I derive hope from advances in understanding, response and prevention that the domestic violence movement has cultivated over years of heartbreaking struggle. The changes we have seen in our lifetime are staggering. And while theres much yet to achieve, we now know that it IS possible to end domestic violence if we summon the will, the imagination and the resources to get the job done. Each of us has a role to play in this rushing river of change. I am honored to plunge into that river with you, and to have found such a vital home at New Beginnings.
